PORTISHEAD

Roseland nyc Live(1998)

By Hamilton X

Now I never heard of this group before, but the D-Man wanted me to borrow it so I did and so far I like what I hear. Sure they are a little strange, but at least they are original. They have a soft but sinister sound to them.

PortisHead has a mixture of different types of music like jazz, rap, blues, and alternative rock. It is refresing to hear something new in a musical world of clones (I don't mean that in the negative way). When listening to this album you can't help, but think your in a Black and white German art film. Just imagine, your sitting at a wooden table in a run down diner surrounded by nude 300 pound women and 90 year old men in tight black leather.

This group reminds me of the old Sneaker Pimps with the now former lead singer Kelli Ali. The only thing that I didn't like about this album was that it was live, so after ever song there is an outbust of applause knocking me out of a dream like state. So I have to knock-off some points for that, but it still gets an 8 out of 10.
