Ministry

Greatest Hits (2001)

By Hamilton X

Greatest fits is an album that contains some of Ministry's best, but it lacks the softer side of Ministry. Ministry has many members, but the two constants are Alien Jourgensen and Paul Barker. The album contains 13 songs, which none of them come from the first two albums: With Sympathy and Twitch. It does contain two songs that are not available on any of their main albums: "What About Us?", and "Supernaut".

If I haven't listened to most of these songs countless number of times, this possibly might have been one of the greatest CD's in my life, but since I bought their first live CD named, In Case You Didn't Feel Like Showing Up Live, which was the album that changed my life. I do enjoy the fact that there are two remixes of older songs. This CD is a must for all Ministry fans, and for people who are not familiar with Industrial music.

If your not familiar with Industrial music, think of it being a combination of heavy metal, dance, country, and techno. Ministry did do a cover song of Bob Dylan's [sic], "Lay Lady Lay". They used sound bytes from Stanely Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket in their song "Thieves", so if your a big movie buff as I am you might enjoy listening this album.

Even thou I killed most of the songs on this Album, they still did a good job of putting together these Greatest Hits. Ministry being twenty years old has influenced a lot of groups through-out the years, so I am going to give this album 9/10
